Blinded enemies deal 33% less damage if you have not been hit recently. You take 20% more damage if you have been hit recently. That way you have to build around being evasive, and for long periods of time for the gem to work at all, and if you aren't you are just taking much more damage. Lightning Trap, Cluster Trap, Trap and Mine Damage, Controlled Destruction, Pierce, Lightning Penetration (controlled destruction doesn't mean you can't crit. I've been playing this game for three months now and as every begginer having stupid charachters that suck alot, and I understand that. But once I was playing then a Voltaxic Rift dropepd to me. I got so excited and made a build about it but this time copied some build from a guy who was really high ladder in hardcore talisman. The build is reaching 9K dps on lightning arrow without auras. (13K with auras) at six link while every gem is level 19. (Lighting arrow, GMP, Wed, Added lighting, Increased crits, and Increased crit damage) I've noticed that a person from who I am copying the build is reaching 38K dps while using chain. I have noticed that people recommend chain for voltaxic rift and I have tried to use it but dps gets so disgusting that my charachter gets unplayable. (It was level 18 chain not level 1!) But I was like, okay he probably has 20% quality gems and corrupted level 21s. But after a while I've saw a blade vortex build from one person and it inspired me to play it. I've created my own blade vortex and stuff and I am pretty happy about it. I can beat atziri but not guaranteed without dying and I did tier 14 map with not difficult mods and easy boss deathless. (Blade Vortex, Spell Echo, Faster Casting, Added Fire Damage, Increased Duration, Controlled Destruction.) (They are all level 20) My tooltip of blade vortex goes 9K without auras. While person who inspired me to play blade vortex says he has 50K. But okay still no worrying, I ain't begginer no longer, lemme put some 20% quality gems. As spell echo reduces 10% of your damage to gives you 70% cast speed, I have 20% quality spell echo that gives you those 10% damage back. Guy from who I saw the blade vortex said that it should increase my damage by alot. And it makes sence I expected a good number 10% damage is huge. I equipped the level 20 and 20% quality instead of just level 20 one to gain a full 200 extra dps. When I don't have spell echo I have 6 and something K dps. Idk where 10% of 6k or 10k is 200 especially with damage nodes from skill tree and all that stuff. Then I equipped 20% quality added fire damage instead of 0% quality one, to get 20 extra dps. Yeah 20. While now I am completly confused, I went to the Pohx and Mathilifications, youtube channels. They have played some blade vortex. Pohx currently plays some kinda blade vortex in hardcore perandus. I've entered his video to see how they are doing high tier maps and uber atziri on a FIVE LINK. My mind is completly blown. In arsenal map he stacks 5 blades shathering everything around himself, while I need 40 blades for that. If someone can please explain the game to me. You are a new player, try to understand mechanics and things, there are a lot of maths included when you make own builds. And do not compare your dps to streamers who get stuff for free, every roll matters on items, probably they even have gg jewels and in HC they have like aurabots and cursebots in the party. Your voltaxic hase a low end roll and you don't have static electricity in your skill tree. So judging just by this, you miss out on like 250-300 flat lightning dmg. Also getting flat lightnign dmg on jewelry and quiver is important. Theese are just some little things. TL;DR you could have 2 times the dmg on voltaxic if you used static electricity in the tree, you pathed by the jewel sockets, you did not take them, this is why copying builds from 'pros' is never a good idea. For a newbie, I'd highly recommend you don't play Voltaxic builds, and ESPECIALLY not an attack build made by Mathil. The reason why Mathil builds look so powerful is because he is an incredible player. What I mean by that is he has absolutely amazing gear on every toon. For that reason, most Mathil builds are newb traps, and it can be almost impossible to compete with his DPS as an unexperienced player. I have a few tips for your Voltaxic build: 1. Don't use Snakebites. You can easily replace your Snakebite with a rare pair of gloves. You NEED attack speed and flat lightning on your gloves. 2. Fix your links Really, I wouldn't recommend playing a Voltaxic build without a 6L. The damage boost from a 6L is just way too significant. If you need a 6l, I recommend you do the Chains that Bind divination card set. Eventually, you'll get an evasion base. Just craft res and life on it, and you'll be good to go. For your Voltaxic, do NOT use Phys to Light and Added Fire. Those supports scale off your PHYSICAL damage, which you have almost none of. The recommended links for Blast Rain are: Blast Rain + WED + Conc effect + Poison + Added Lightning For Lightning Arrow, use: Lightning Arrow + GMP + Chain + WED + Added Lightning + Void Manip 3. Divine your Voltaxic. The roll on your Voltaxic is pretty gross. Not much more to say. 4. Improve your jewellry/quiver. For your rings, you NEED at least the Elreon roll for added lightning damage. You also need at least a 30% WED roll. This is integral to achieving high DPS, especially on a build like Voltaxic, which relies entirely on flat lightning damage. For your quiver, you should go for WED and Crit Multi at the least. Accuracy is also a nice stat. 5. Your tree is horrible, to say the least. I HEAVILY recommend you look at Mathil's tree. There's way too much that needs to be fixed here, and I can't possibly fit it in this reply. 6. Don't be a Deadeye. IMO, Deadeye is pretty bad for Voltaxic. You really don't need the additional chain, as you're already one shotting literally every pack up to red maps. I highly recommend Raider. However, '10% increased damage' is additive with your other damage increases so it's big only very early in the game, later on it would be equivalent to 2-3% more damage at most. If you want to know exactly why aren't you having the kind of DPS someone else has you should compare your builds apple by apple. I can assure you they haven't sold their souls to Kitava or anything, you're just a few pieces short of the whole puzzle, and that can be pretty big in endgame. Most people buff themselves up heaps before taking screenshots like that. For LA, you'd want to use Wrath and Herald of Thunder at least. But they will probably have flasks on too, like Diamond flask and onslaught flask on etc. (And also maybe a shrine!) Also note that you can increase your lightning arrow DPS by a lot if you have more added lightning damage on gear. Guys, I didn't focus my thread really on voltaxic rift char, it's more focused on vortex. I reworked my build, instad of dual wielding dagger, i've put pledge of hands, I stand on 7 link now and my dps is still 10K. I have a friend who plays a support charachter and has 13 auras on his charachter, he says that he usually doubles peoples dps but when I play with him I have 14K dps. My game must be bugged so hard. You cant compare your vortex to pohx build, you just cant. Its nothing similar, he uses bladevortex to apply curses and essence worm ring for hatred which you dont use at all (major DPS loss). He also has no mana reserved and uses that 60% increased spell dmg jewel. AND he is a scion with leech from marauder ascendancy cant remember which one so he doesnt need warlords mark. Your blade vortex tree has around 10 different problems, including some inefficient pathing. You're missing life nodes that are literally right on your path, you get some crit nodes but not the best ones near shadow, you didn't pick up a jewel socket for 1 point. Main problem is stretching yourself too thin honestly. (2 points for 5% cast speed?) Another problem is your ascendancy class. It's not helping you much. Full crit assassin with deadly infusion/toxic delivery is what would boost your dps to 50k+. Warlord's mark/vaal pact to not die instantly on reflect. Poison gem would also add way more damage than added fire when you factor in all that increased duration (yes skill duration affects poison duration). To get high dps you need really good synergy between your tree + gear + skill gems. That's only partly the case with your build. First, you travel too far on your passive tree (Scion life wheel, double curse) so you are left with not enough passive points. Second, you take various nodes that increase your maximum mana and Mind over Matter, which is a good combination - but then you reserve almost all your mana (if I understand it correctly) for Herald + Blasphemy + Clarity, making all those nodes pretty useless. Third, your increased damage from tree + gear is rather low, you have about 260% increased damage only. My self-cast builds usually have 350+. Since you don't profit from elemental damage increases you really want to max out on jewels with physical/spell damage or cast speed, depending on your path there are three or four jewel slots you can take for two or less points each. Fourth, I don't know which build inspired you but most Blade Vortex builds go for critical strikes, which - if built correctly and with good gear - can reach pretty good DPS. Golem
Lightning golem is the best for this build. Allows to move faster with whirling blades or shield charge as well as spin up vortex blades quicker.

Heralds
We use all three heralds: Ash, Ice andThunder.
Gotomypc mac download. Here is how we are going to utilize them:
Herald of Ash doesn't hit and doesn't trigger any on kill events, so just leave it alone and use as is.
Herald of Thunder is going to be linked to Curse On Hit - Warlord's Mark gems. This doesn't reserve any extra mana and reliably curses enemies around you while exping. The fourth link is going to be Blind - our chance to evade jumps to over 50% against blinded enemies.
Herald of Ice can be used on its own, however if you have enough spare links and mana you can try the following combination, it works great if you don't have Inpulsa's armor yet:
Do not use this setup with Inpulsa's armor as it steals herald's kills most of the time.
If you have Inpulsa's and want to clear even faster you can use this setup borrowed from the autobomber builds:
Herald of Ice - Ice Bite - Innervate - Increased Critical Strikes
This will however reserve a lot of mana so you will need to either switch to Watcher's jewel based mini-MoM or unspec MoM altogether which would have a negative impact on survivability.
CWDT
CWDT (12) - Immortal Call (14) - Increased Duration - Warlord's Mark (14)
This setup serves two purposes: it triggers Immortal Call to prevent all physical damage for the duration, and also casts the Warlord's Mark curse. The latter is required in single target situations (bosses) where the curse cannot be applied by the heralds.
You don't want to keep your CWDT too low level as you don't want your endurance charges to be consumed every time someone looks at you funny. Level 12 appears to be a good balance, although you may keep it lower early on.

If you have the Warlord's Mark curse on hit ring, you can remove Warlord's Mark gems, opening up a few slots. There are no hard and fast rules on how to use these extra slots, here is a few possible ideas:
* Add Frost Bomb to your CWDT setup. It adds 25% cold penetration when triggered and we do deal quite a big deal of cold damage. It also greatly reduces enemies life regen which is useful against high regen targets.
* Link golem to CWDT to have it automatically resummoned.
* Link heralds to Enlighten support to free up a bit more mana for MoM.
* Add Blind to Orb of Storms setup.
* Add Flame Dash as an extra movement skill for lab or rough terrain when you need to jump which you cannot do with whirling blades or shield charge.

General Notes
Aim to have at least 70 life on every rare piece of gear. Do not overlook mana regen and flat mana mods. Always make sure your elemental resists are capped.

Dual wield either 2 Daggers or Dagger and Scepter.

Inpulsa's Broken Heart is the BiS armor for this build.
It boosts both single target damage (via the increased shock effectiveness and increased damage mods) and AoE (via the shocked enemies you kill explode mod).
Until you obtain Inpulsa's, use any rare or unique armor, preferably with life and resists.

Lots of life, crit chance, attack speed and very importantly up to 70 dex - and this build is dex starved.

Dexterity is becoming a bottleneck now. Take Precision for +20 dex if you haven't taken it earlier. Take AoE node in the templar area and move towards the shadow area picking up +30 dex node on your way there. Take a jewel slot and put Assassin Haste (quest reward) there. Do the second lab when you have around 2-2.5k life and take the Mastermind of Discord ascendancy node. Add Herald of Thunder as your second herald.
